Other antivirus products have shown much more performance gains from optimization. This finished in 79 minutes, which is an improvement. Knowing that many antivirus utilities use the first scan to optimize performance for subsequent ones, I timed a repeat scan. That scan took 113 minutes, about half again the current average of 70 minutes. Kaspersky offered to run a background scan right after installation, but I declined and instead ran a full scan.
